"I wanted a drug-free birth and did everything I could to prepare for it, including taking a Bradley class and reading every book I could get my hands on. But nothing prepared me for the pain and intensity of my contractions, and it wasn't long before I was ready to give up and ask for an epidural.

"Jacqueline, who knew of my birth plan and my wishes for a drug-free, vaginal birth, asked if she could try a few more things before I took any drugs. Even though I was in more pain than I'd ever experienced in my life, I agreed. Four hours later, my son Nico was born, a strong, healthy baby brought into this world with many words of encouragement (and a few choice words on my part), but no drugs.

"The thing that's so great about Jacqueline is that she meets you where you're at, and gives you the help and support that you need, instead of following someone else's agenda. I will always be grateful that, at a critical point in my labor, Jacqueline taught me how to focus on the single contraction at hand, which helped me get out of my way just enough to be able to get through the rest of the process. I have no doubt that, without Jaqueline's help, I would have at least had an epidural, and possibly some other complication that tends to follow such interventions."

I can honestly say that I can't imagine what having Ryland would have been like without you. When I think about the birth there is a lot I've already forgotten - which is hard to believe - but one of the strongest memories I have is a moment of pure relaxation during labor. I was sprawled over a birthing ball and you were massaging my arms and I was so amazed, and still am, at how incredibly relaxed and peaceful I was. You were so important to making that experience as calm and relaxing as it could be. And your advice and consult were so critical in helping navigate the less than supportive nursing staff of the morning shift. Thank you for everything! I wish you all the best.
