Doula Liz and Her birth philosophy

I fell in love with doulaship while in college studying cultural anthropology.  I was fascinated with the diverse cultural customs, specifically those centered on people’s birth experiences. Immersing myself in cross-cultural perspectives, I began learning all techniques and practices surrounding childbirth and found that this natural process can differ vastly from culture to culture.  I had found my life's passion.

The birth of my daughter Ramona has further emphasized the importance of this respectful labor team.  My support partners created a loving and safe space for me to allow my birth to go wherever it needed.  I felt empowered with a sense of total freedom.  There was no judgement.  There was no direction, yet I felt safe with total trust in my midwife and circle of support.  That day I was born as Mother,  with the birth of my Ramona.

My work is to keep a sacred space for people to birth.

Childbirth is an intimate spiritual and physiological experience that requires respect.  This beautiful process should always be delicately nurtured by compassionate caregivers.  Pregnant people have the right to take control of their births, which can be a personally empowering experience.  When people have these strengthening events throughout their lives, it builds confidence and resilience. I believe that helping to provide a positive birth experience is the most beautiful gift a person can receive.

I offer: individualized education, emotional support, and hands-on care through pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum. To help create the personal experience you desire, I offer sensitive care for all with consideration of specific cultural beliefs and practices, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, single pregnant people, lower income.

I am currently working with The San Diego Birth Collective! www.sandiegobirthcollective.com
